Area II - Rio Salado Desert Classic

Monday, November 13th, 2006

A few of us were not left out, but getting in was nothing less than luck.

Wayne did great, finished 39th (out of 125), 5th A Class in Limited. Jerry won high Super Senior in Open, finishing 45th (out of 121). Paul B., Tom C. and Mike G. (yes, we still claim him) were respectable. Cassidy crashed and burned. Not a pretty sight.

All in all, a great match. Last year’s memorization nonsense was gone. You could walk the stages prior, and all the staff were just great. Super prize table, great weather, couldn’t ask for anything more.

Oh yeah, Manny won Limited. TGO just didn’t feel like shooting. Dave Sevigny took Production, Matt Burkett won Open. Henning came in second to Manny, just 4 points (out of 1300+) behind. That’s like a D and a C.

Left Out of Rio Match

Monday, November 13th, 2006

Six RGPSC members - Larry Hudson, Carolyn Hudson, Randy Ryan, Mike Taylor, Harry Goldenberg and Mark Nienhuis - made the trek to Kingman, AZ Nov 11th and 12th to shoot in the “Left Out of Rio” Match.  Unfortunately, an AD by Harry earned him a DQ during the match - but he was our “official” RO for the remainder of the match - what a good sport!!!!  When the dust settled (literally) the 5 remaining members of our team brought home awards:

Randy Ryan - Limited 10 Winner, 1st L-10 A Class, 1st L-10 Senior

Mike Taylor - Limited 10 B Class 2nd Place and 3rd L-10 overall

Larry Hudson - 8th overall Limited class and 3rd Place Super Senior Limited

Carolyn Hudson - 2nd Lady overall (1st Limited Lady)

Mark Nienhuis - 10th overall Limited class and 3rd Limited Unclassified

We had a great squad and had lots of fun at the match.  Everyone received a prize box or sack and prizes and awards were done in a timely manner.  We left Kingman at 12:20pm.  We highly recommend this match for those who are “left out” of Rio Salado or who choose not to participate in that match.  Larry and I will definitely go back next year.   Give it a try.
