Colorado State
The championships were held over the Labor Day weekend in Montrose, and some local shooters cleaned up! Damon was 1st A Limited, Randy was 2nd L-10, and Jerry took 2nd Master Open, as well as $100 for 3rd in the shoot off. Wayne and Bart took 2nd and 3rd in A Limited. 10 stages in one day sounds like a lot, but when you mix in low round hosers, medium round and a few high round count stages, it seemed to work out Ok. Thanks to Greg Stanway (and Joyce) who did most of the design and setup work. Greg’s hand was actually cramped from the staple gun! Tommy didn’t eat his vegetables, and Rod was called a Tall Fat Tire. All in all, a fun weekend.

Mr. Cassidy, aka Tall Fat Tire, slightly understated shooting 10 stages in 1 day - it was tough, but doable. As he said, some of the stages were low round count and fast to do with minimal movement, but.. our squad - mostly RGPSC shooters - did the easy ones in the morning and saved the long field courses for the afternoon. We enjoyed it all, but were glad to see the last one in the books.
Several good stages - one of which required 3 hits on each target. Damon smoked this one and the rest of us were just there. You’ll see a variation of this stage at the next regular match.
Another involved a jail breakout and several shooting positions - one before a suspended bridge (on springs) one on the bridge and another past the bridge shooting thru a mock-up helicopter. We watched one of the GMs shoot the first 6 steel and drop-turner in about 1 second and hit the bridge with 1 step and leap completely over it to shoot the remainder of the targets thru the windows of the ‘chopper. Completely eliminated a shooting position! Totally remarkable.
All in all a good match. Thanks a bunch to the Montrose crowd for putting it on.
RGPSC has shooters heading to Nationals in Tulsa this week. Good luck to them!
