Area II Rio Salado

Wednesday, September 27th, 2006

This year’s match (Mesa in November) sold out in about 6 hours. Local shooters making it in include Rod Ca, Jerry, Mike G (kinda loco), Wayne and Tommy C. The word from informed sources is that next year it will be a total lottery to get in, no more racing with FedEx.

The Rio Grande in Texas

Wednesday, September 27th, 2006

Practical Shooting Club, that is. A bunch of local shooters made the trek to Breckenridge for the annual Texas Limited. Carolyn and Larry, Randy, Mike T., Colby, Harry, and Mark N., there and back again. All seemed to fair well, with Randy and Mike going 2-3 in L10. Well done, boys and girls.

News from the Nationals

Friday, September 15th, 2006

The Albuquerque Gang descended on Barry, Illinois intent upon beating up the best shooters in the world. Larry, Paul, Pat, and Rod have now come back to reality. Not beating Rob, or Manny, or Dave, but having a good time. Astounding news is 15 year old GM Revo whiz named Nils currently beating up on Jerry M. Maybe he can hold on. On the two stages both have shot (and posted), the young one is on top. Wow, 15 years old and beating Jerry!!!!

First Match in our new home!

Saturday, September 2nd, 2006

Despite threats of high winds - which happened - and rain that didn’t
quite make it, the first regular match was held Sat, Sept 2nd. About
20 shooters showed up and shot 3 stages and a classifier.

The stages included Stage 1, a 32 rd course that required shooting
around barriers and moving backwards. Jerry Bridges was the stage
designer.

Stage 2 was about 30 rds with poppers, swingers and paper that had to
be shot from specific boxes. Rod Cassidy was responsible for that mess!

Stage 3 was Rod Current’s design - a 16 rd stage that started with the
gun on a table. USP poppers and paper with 1 of the poppers at 30 yds!

Randy Ryan is back to shooting Open and he took overall. The rest of
us were in there somewhere. All said, an IPSC style match that was
challenging and enjoying.
For my part, the State Match was rewarding to do and participate in,
but it was good to get back to shooting just for the fun of it. And it
was especially good to hold our first regular match at our new home.
DVC!

The UK at CSRP

Saturday, September 2nd, 2006

RGPSC welcomed Keith Howell from the United Kingdom at our match today. Keith flew in yesterday, a 25 hour journey thanks the usual absurdities at various airports. His left handed gun seemed to work fine, and after a nine year hiatus from the sport (seems the UK doesn’t like handguns anymore), he did just fine. Come back and see us anytime, Keith. We’ll keep the gun warmed up.
